Zanskar - One of the most remote and desolate section of the Himalayas.  A land where time has stood still for more than a millennium. It is also undoubtedly one of the most beautiful part of the Himalayas.

The reason why Zanskar has not been on the popular destination for Trekkers is the sheer inaccessibility of the place. The Zanskar valley is flanked by two parallel high ranges. The Zanskar river runs through the valley cutting a deep gorge throughout the length of the valley. Only in 1979 was a road opened from Kargil to Padum. Zanskar remains cut off from civilization during the winter months. Parts of Zanskar are considered to be some of the coldest inhabited places in the world.   

The trip starts in Leh. We drive through to Kargil, and then take a detour to Padum. From Padum we do a 1 day trek to the ancient Phutkal Monastery.

The remoteness of Zanskar, the unique terrain and the extremely beautiful scenery  makes Zanskar one of the ultimate destinations in the world.
